This series is awesome! Susan Cooper is one great writer. She writes with a beautiful, unique style with minimal flaws, especially in the Welsh part. Other than that, this woman is "dope", as Randy Jackson might say. I think that she has a bit of Tolkien and Lewis in her. That magic and wonderful imagery is alive in your mind as you read every line. Truly fantastic.English and Welsh folklore keep the stories alive with allusions to King Arthur, Pendragon, and the Holy Grail.

The story revolves around the Old Ones, a race of creatures who strive to defeat the forces of the Dark. One of them is Will Stanton, the lead character in most of the stories. He is the last of the Old Ones. As the seventh son of the seventh son, Will must find the six signs, the manuscript with the cipher to the grail's runic signs, a harp of gold, and the crystal sword. In these quests, he is aided by both ordinary and extraordinary humans. Merimman Lyon, one of the Old Ones, is one of Will's helpers. The Drews children - Jane, Simon, and Barnabas - also help him in the quests. Together, they struggle to vanquish the Dark forever.

If you're looking for a more extraordinary story than books about vampires and werewolves, give this series a try. It will surely keep your imagination alive.
