Today I bought...

...Two new books, some groceries (foodies, mostly) and three news pieces of clothing. Yay! This is so like one of the few times I actually shopped on my own, for myself. Hihi.

The books first, of course. They are The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros and Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See. I bought the first one because some of the vignettes there were studied in our CW 10 class under Sir Butch Guerrero. The latter one I bought because I learned a few weeks ago that it was turned into a movie and will be shown soon. I just wanted to get a little peek at what's in store, and maybe do a little comparison between the book and the movie.

(I think it's better to read the book first before seeing the movie. Gimme a Harry Potter book. Now.)

I wouldn't bother detailing the groceries I bought because (1) it's not interesting, and (2) it's none of yer business. *evil laugh*

So, the clothes... I'm a freakin' cheapo so I wouldn't say the price. *grin*

Anyway, I bought a black, long-sleeved blouse with ruffled sleeves, which I plan to use for a future costume. Even if I don't continue with the costume I still get a fine addition to my (color skimpy) closet. I also bought a dark blue-colored blouse and (get this) a hot pink shirt. Yup. Hot pink.

That is so all today. :)

OmO. :3

Hello, hello! Today, we went shopping and I bought two cutesy items!

First up is a key chain from Comic Alley. That girl with the long, blonde hair is Tsumugi Kotobuki (Mugi, for short) from the anime K-On! She's, obviously, the keyboardist of Hokago Tea Time. My bunch of friends said I'm like her for these reasons: (1) she plays the keyboard, and (2) she is demure but easily excitable (nyah~). She's also a rich girl and brings tea and dessert for the club (her father owns a maid cafe, nyao).

The second thing is... a book! Yeah, some people may not consider that cutesy, but it's cute for me. Heehee.

The book on the right is Mermaid in the Basement by Gilbert Morris. I have never heard of Morris until a couple of hours ago. I bought the book because it was interesting: (1) it's set in 1800 (I think?) London, (2) the lead character is female, (3) it's a detective story, and (4) I smell romance in the corner. Haha! I was actually in a pinch when I bought this because there were two other interesting books: The Phantom Tollbooth and The Mistress of the Art of Death. Meh, the latter title is really piquing my interest... But it costs 115 pesos and that's the end of the dilemma. :P

Anyway, I also saw a lot of interesting things in the mall: a two-finger ring with a skull design (which is so Sunako Nakahara), cute pencil cases, a wolf plushie (so adorable~), Gundam OO merchandise (finally!), and a poster of a topless Kurosaki Ichigo with nun chucks. Haha!

If you think this is an Independence Day post, then you're wrong...

At eighteen and a half years old, I'm still like a kid rummaging through her mother's bureau - I don't know the first thing about make-up! Sure, I know about eyeliner, eyeshadow, lipstick, mascara, blush-on and all that stuff, but actually applying it is tricky. Yeah, I have watched and read about how to apply but it's hard when you're painting your own face. I have had make-up applied on me by other people, but I can't seem to do it to others or to myself. It's really frustrating, haha!

In the picture on the right, I tried applying pink eyeshadow and black eyeliner to match my clothes. The problem is, they disappear quickly because I have oily skin and the weather is freakin' hot. My mom says I should get waterproof make-up, but I bet that costs a ton. Also, the only make-up I could get along with are eyeliner, face powder, lipstick, and lip gloss. Even eyeshadow is a chore because I don't know which should come first: darker hues or lighter hues?

I'm getting the idea that the weather in the Philippines isn't suited for eyeliner. Once, I wore some and it was really hot. In the middle of the day, I looked like a bad version of an Addams Family member.

But, I am trying to learn, because I know I'll need it someday. :D

I love Bruno Mars and Ryota Miyagi, yo! But... *chuckle chuckle*

It's my sister's idea, really. And I want to thank you, yo! :D

Random stuffies~

Hi! This is the last Friday of vacation. Next Monday, we'll have to go to U.P. Diliman and dive into another year of academic work, yo!

*sigh*

*groan*

Ugh.

Summer is almost over and I think I haven't done anything absolutely productive - anime-books-fanfiction-games-and-drama things-wise.  Well, I did finish watching Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge live-action drama, post two stories (1 oneshot and 1 on-going), kept ourselves updated on BLEACH (manga and anime - strictly canon... sort of), re-watched and relived Slam Dunk, watched Season 2 of K-On!,  managed to read several books, downloaded a ton of DS games, almost done with Bleach: The 3rd Phantom, but it just is not enough, yo! For one, I wasn't able to get to the beach this summer. That is so dream material, yo!

*sigh*

Anyway, I'm happy with how things turned out. We manage to go on everyday. *grin grin grin*

This is one random post.

Oh yeah! My bebz and I (count 4 in that "bebz" word) went out this summer! We also had an overnight! Yay! All of us are in college now, except Reg-kun who graduated last April. Yay! It's awesome, really.

Also, this summer was full of firsts. I attended my first cosplay convention - Ozine Fest 2011, yo! I participated in a cosplay event as Sunako Nakahara from Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge in Hobby Fest 2011 (and got a lot of recognitions, yo!). Maybe it wasn't such a bad summer, after all.

*shrug*

Nyahaha. That is probably my favorite online laugh right now. So addicting... Nyahaha.

Muh. I still haven't posted any reviews which is so... Um... Lazy of me. Also, I haven't updated Broken, which sucks because I don't have anymore ideas (on how to make my OC non-hateable, ahem)! Plot bunnies, come on!

And, so, this totally random post stops here.

Confessions

I've got a confession to make.

I am turning into a history buff.

Ever since my uncle first introduced me to Ambeth Ocampo's Looking Back, Dirty Dancing, and Death by Garrote, I have been hooked into his books. Right now I'm reading Rizal without the overcoat. I learned a lot of things about our national hero that makes him more 'human'. After that, I want to borrow Luna's moustache.

The thing is, history in Ocampo's essays came alive for me, unlike the boring discussions we used to get in classrooms. Graciano Lopez-Jaena was rendered real with that funny little anecdote about his dirty coat and how his peers would force him to write with a round of drinks. Commonwealth President Manuel Quezon was no longer just the face on a twenty peso bill. I found Andres Bonifacio and Gregoria de Jesus' story very romantic and dramatic, stuff for a primetime telenovela. Actually, the lives of all our heroes could be made into telenovelas, if producers only paid more attention to our history and culture rather than thinking that the people still like mushy love stories with a lot of violence.

It was also quite interesting that even though Jose Rizal is our national hero there is still so much that we don't know about the man. There are dozens of documents pertaining to him and yet students only know two facts: he wrote the Noli and El Fili and was shot on Bagumbayan (now Luneta). There are so many things we miss out on because we're too lazy to read and dig up all these interesting tidbits about our heroes that make them human. For instance, I discovered that Rizal is so thrifty that he would often leave the boarding house to stroll outside. He would look into the windows of restaurants and watch people eat. Then he would go back to the house with a straight face, leaving his landlady thinking that he had enjoyed a good meal. It is also interesting that Filipinos abroad before and today's Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) have something in common: they both longed for Filipino food. Our heroes had stocks of bagoong and in one essay, it was said that Rizal's specialty was pancit. Fancy Rizal, del Pilar, the Lunas, and their friends eating pancit in Madrid!

The point is, we would appreciate our history more if we only took the time to do more research. I'm dying to go to museums and risk the allergic reactions to see for myself what stuff our heroes left us. Given the chance, I'd love to go around Fort Santiago and see it with clearer eyes.

Random post :)

As I type this I'm in an internet cafe with the purpose of uploading the photos of flowers I took on Facebook. It was hot so it was really quite a chore to snap 'em but they turned out fine. I just found out that I love shadows - at least, the way they appeared on this set of pictures.

I'm done reading I is for Innocent and the review will probably come over the weekend. It's one of the best books in the Alphabet Mysteries and the time I spent rummaging for it was so worth it. I'm now exploring - back to - Prince Edward Island with L.M. Montgomery's Chronicles of Avonlea. Next in the line-up is, of course, Further Chronicles of Avonlea. I'm hoping I could purchase a copy of U is for Undertow in a real bookstore, since I can't afford to wait any longer.

I haven't written the reviews for the movies I watched over the Christmas break, such as Into the Wild, My Sister's Keeper, Never Let Me Go, and Rosario. I hope I can get into the spirit, somehow. :P

I have chosen my topic for our final essay in Pol Sc 14. It's going to be the hog and poultry farm problem in Porac - something near to my... place of residence. Choosing for Kas 118 is a chore because I can't think of any. I'll probably go with former Isabela leader Grace Padaca (if I got that name right).

I think I'll be doing a puppet show for my Comm 130 presentation. It's kind of hard to write a skit about Laura Mulvey's theory of visual pleasure but I'll try my best.

The list of movies I'm planning to download just got longer. I'm adding The Departed and The Godfather trilogy (because my Film 100 professor said they're good films).

The song I'm listening to most of the time is Feels like Home by Chantal Kreviazuk from Dawson's Creek. Edwina Hayes has a version of it on My Sister's Keeper, which is where I first heard it. Give it a try. :)

Good news, peeps! Our STFAP bracket just went down to C. That means 600 per unit so we're really in a jolly, jolly mood right now. Thank God! Goodbye, money woes!

That's it for now. :D

Changes, changes, changes!

Hi!

If you notice, my blog posts have diminished and the reviews are all gone. That's because I moved them to another blog: http://thesanctumreview.blogspot.com

I did it because... I just felt like it. :P

Can' take my hands off you...

SERIOUSLY. Yes, seriously, I cannot take my hands off you. No, I'm not talking about a species of the male Homo sapiens. I am talking about the best-est thing in the world for me: books.

Why?

First of all, I can't help but buy one or two books every week from Booksale. Hunting for the right book in a mountain of 'em is hard work but once you find the real treasure, it's the achievement of a lifetime. Like yesterday, I found a copy of Pinnochio by Carlo Collodi for 40 pesos. That book is rare to me because it's the first time I've seen it. I mean, I always knew [in my heart] that such a book existed but I've never seen it. So, yeah. It's a great achievement!

Second, books keep me company. Often, more than friends. I keep them around me for leisure and knowledgeable pursuits. Curiously enough, I am not drawn to academic and non-fiction books...

I learn a lot from books, especially from Michael Crichton's sci-fi books. It's amazing because most of these stuff are things I don't learn in school and would never bother reading about in the Science library. But when they're written by Crichton or by any other sci-fi writer, they pique my interest. The things which are hidden from us are revealed through books. While reading them, I am able to know what the life of a doctor, detective, or a writer is all about. Books also take me to places I've never been and will never be in. Take Libba Bray's Gemma Doyle trilogy or C.S. Lewis' Narnia, for example. It fosters a person's imagination and exercises the mind's creativity.

There are a lot more reasons why I love books so I wonder why some people don't read them or how they can survive without reading them. They're missing out on a lot of things. The world of books is so wonderful! :3

Some sorta poem...

Sweet-peas.
Last embrace.
Kiss on the cheek,
Tear on the other.

Pink carnations.
Promises of tomorrow,
Fragile and unsure,
I still hold on.

Zinnias.
I sit by the window,
Wind blowing.
Smoke on the horizon.

Begonias.
A push on the front,
Desperate attempts,
"Fly the flag!"

A package arrives.
High expectation.
Anxiety. Ecstasy.
I receive it.

A box of nasturtiums,
And cattails also,
But dead leaves follow.
I weep.

Dark crimson roses
Fill the garden.
"I'll never forget you."
Sweet-peas.

American Idol

I started watching this show when it was aired on QTV 11. That was 2008 and it was Season Seven, the year when rocker David Cook won. I have nothing against those results. It was pretty much obvious that Cook would win the title ultimately because of his swagger and the awe-inducing performances.

* But in Season Eight? Those are very questionable results. I mean, seriously? Adam Lambert did not win? Like, Kris Allen won over him? That is so messed up. Adam was clearly the better performer, the better singer. Isn't that what the show was all about? Putting morality issues aside, Adam was great. Kris Allen was light-years away from his awesomeness. I don't know what made the people vote for Kris Allen but there were rumors that the results for the finale were rigged. I sure agree. Up until now, I still like Adam Lambert better than Kris Allen. Yes, probably some of his songs are not very "ear candy" but just take a look at his Mad World performance. That has to count for something, eh? And the huge fanbase he has? Gawd. That just proves that he is so much more interesting.

In Season Nine, I really dearly thought Crystal Bowersox was going to get the title. But, no. They gave it to Lee de Wyze who gave an unsatisfactory performance a day before the finale. They were also saying that this season was the "girls season" so what of the results? Argh. Couldn't the voters see it? Crystal sang better.

Okay. Maybe that was just me and my bets. But, whatever. Simon Cowell is leaving Idol. Sad sad sad. He was the meanest judge but I know that everyone is going to sorely miss him.

So what's going to happen to the show now? Is it going to soar? Or is it going to continually flunk the ratings fight?

Can't tell. >_>

[* So why am I posting this just now? Because I want to. :D)

HA! I have completed the Gemma Doyle trilogy by purchasing the last book: The Sweet Far Thing. I think, so far, it has been the most expensive of my collections with the total cost amounting to 959 pesos. Booyeah.

Introducing Camuchii

These are some of the pictures taken with Camuchii - my new Fujifilm Z33 Waterproof Camera. :D

It's Mom's gift to me from Qatar.

Camuchii boasts 10.1 Megapixels but the greatest thing about him (or her or it...) is the ability to take pictures underwater. XD

Change of status

(No. That is not change of marital status... XD Okay, no one laughed.)

I decided to change the status of 'Heartless' from Complete to In-Progress. I've received 5 reviews with the same message: "one more chapter please!!" or "ending is vague; I didn't get it!!" plus "what is the incident?" Consequently, they've also written that it's sad and I think that's a plus for me. It's good that I was able to reach out what I wanted to tell them. :D

Okay. So I'm thinking of, maybe, a second chapter in Shikamaru's point of view. There, the incident will be more succinctly explained (against the background of his packing for his travel). I hope it helps in understanding what really happened. There'll be a lot of nuances but I hope the readers can get it now. A third chapter might not be far in the future. If I do add a third, it'll be third person narration... Or second, if I'm in the mood for it. Haha! XD

Now I have to update two fanfics (Heartless and Unrequited), plus two more oneshots. Busy summer!! XD

List 12 Naruto characters in no particular order XD

I did this before. I think I deleted the stuff so I'm posting it in my dear blog to preserve the data. This is going to be exciting and F-U-N!!

List 12 Naruto characters in no particular order:
1. Yamanaka Ino
2. Haruno Sakura
3. Aburame Shino
4. Uzumaki Naruto
5. Inuzuka Kiba
6. Nara Shikamaru
7. Hyuga Neji
8. Hyuga Hinata
9. Yamanaka Inoichi
10. Nara Yoshino
11. Deidara
12. Uchiha Itachi

1) Have you ever read a Six/Eleven fanfic before?
Ooh. Shikamaru and Itachi? Noooo. Won't read. EVER.

2) Do you think Four is hot? How hot?
Umm... I don't exactly consider Naruto hot. He's more like cute, I guess.

3) What would happen if Twelve got Eight pregnant?
Oh my..! That is..! Oh well, two powerful clans merge. Not a bad idea, really. I guess Hinata's dad would be fixing up a date for the wedding. He won't bother getting angry much... XD

4) Do you recall any fics about Nine?
Yes, it's something I wrote. He's not really the main character. Haha! Does that count?..

5) Would Two and Six make a good couple?
Sakura and Shikamaru? No thanks. It's strictly InoShika, please. :D

6) Five/Nine or Five/Ten?
Inuzuka Kiba/Yamanaka Inoichi or Inuzuka Kiba/Nara Yoshino?.. Umm. Next question?

7) What would happen if Seven walked in on Two and Twelve having sex?
If Neji walked in on Sakura and Itachi having sex?.. Err. Neji's not that kind of person, or maybe he is... Deep inside. XP

8) Make up a summary of a Three/Ten Fanfic.
"Nara Yoshino is pissed off. Recently, bugs have been pestering her dear garden. Now, she's determined to find out who set them off." (I guess I could do this for April Fools' Day next year..)

9) Is there any such thing as a One/Eight fluff?
Ino and Hinata?.. I don't know. Maybe?.. Probably? Yes. Ehh...

10) Suggest a title for a Seven/Twelve Hurt/Comfort fic.
"Consolation" It's going to be about Neji and Itachi accidentally meeting together. They start talking about their problems and end up consoling each other. Haha!

11) What kind of plot would you use if you wanted Four to de-flower One?
EH? Well, NaruIno fics exist but I don't think I'll be doing this. Just to answer the question, Naruto and the others would be holding a sleep-over party so there's lots of games involved. Spin the Bottle, anyone?..

12) Does anyone on your friends list read Three het?
NO!!

13) Does anyone on your friends list write or draw Eleven?
No. They hate him.

14) Would anyone on your friends list write Two/Four/Five ?
Sakura/Naruto/Kiba... I don't think so.

15) What might ten scream at a moment of great passion?
"Dang it all!" :P

16) If you wrote a song-fic about Eight, what song would you choose?
I'm with you by Avril Lavigne. Maybe it's going to be NaruHina.. <3

17) If you wrote a One/Six/Twelve fic, what would the warning be?
Ino/Shikamaru/Itachi... Warning: Unnecessary OOCness included?..

18) What might be a good pick-up line for Ten to use on Two?
Yoshino to Sakura? Ahe... "Hey pretty?" I dunno!!!

19) How might Eleven describe a relationship between Two and Eight?
Deidara (on Hinata and Sakura): Friendship is a bang!

20) How emo is Seven?
OOOH! Very!

super RANDOM post

  • Bakit ang corny ng Agua Bendita? Ahahahaha!.. Hindi lang pala yun. Lahat pala ng Pinoy drama shows, lalo na yung sa TV5. Mas cheesy pa sa Twilight! At sobrang cliche!.. Pasensya naman... Hindi ako masyadong nationalistic pagdating sa Filipino entertainment industry...
  • Ang cute ng Sunken Garden kanina! Andaming balloons! (OvO) <- parang bata..
  • Today, we received our results for our 2nd exam in Kas 2. I had a grade of nearly-2.0-but-I'd-rather-prefer-1.75-thank-you 1.87, which is an improvement from a 3.0. :D
  • Na-move ang Kas 2 3rd exam!! Instead of March 22, we'll be having it on March 24. Thank God! Andami kayang babasahin!..
  • ...At naalala ni Mam Mata ang term paper sa English 11. Bakeet? Pero, I'll probably be doing a paper on We can them for you wholesale.
  • But, on the other hand, we'll be having a take-home exam which is super win!
  • Natutuwa naman akong masyado sa mga joke sa radyo... Nakalimutan ko na yung station, basta ang corny ng jokes pero natatawa ako... Kahit paulit-ulit lang...
  • Ang cute ng If I were you na song ni Jason Castro!! I <3>
  • Dunno why, but I wanna see KHQ-ers. Like now.
  • I've decided to go org-less...
  • UP is so pretty this time of the year. Setting the extreme heat aside, the trees are lovely. There are a row of trees beside the Mech Eng'g lab that drop tiny "stars" on your head. When the wind blows, there're so many of these "stars!" Maybe if you stand there for a few minutes, you'll have a "star" crown on your head. :D
  • There are also some trees in front of Palma Hall that shed these cottony spores. They're flying all over you. Haha! Sometimes, I want to pick one and take it home with me. They're so cute, they make you sneeze! :D
  • I'm halfway through New Moon. I think I like it better than Twilight. BUT I still don't like the saga. There you go!
  • I want to eat cotton candy. Everytime I see the cotton candy man, there's always something that stops me from buying.. DX

R-r-r-r-r-random list

Okay, so this is a list of things I want to do before I die -slash- things that will probably just remain dreams but it's good to dream anyway:

1. go to Japan
- It is every otaku's dream to visit the birthplace of anime. Not only that, Japan is a nice country with an interesting history.

2. go on a tour around Europe... ALONE
- Come on! It's like, why not get lost in the beautiful "streets" of Venice? Or stumble upon Bran in Wales? Or offer free hugs to strangers in front of the Eiffel Tower? Or stay in a hotel for weeks? Or fight a duel in the Colosseum in Rome? Or meet the Pope in the Vatican? Or meet the Queen? Or see the great island of Santorini? Or enter real castles? Or eventually run out of money and end up begging in the streets of London? That is an adventure.

3. go to Africa
- I want to see the safari! I mean, it looks great on television so why not see it IRL? Also, South Africa sounds like a great place. I'd love to meet people there... And Egypt! It's always been my dream to see the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx~

4. go to New Zealand
- Hey, it's where they shot the Lord of the Rings trilogy and it's a nice, comfy place with a lot of farms and... COWS!

5. go island-hopping around the Philippines
- This'll probably go before all the others because, first, I have to be a tourist in my own country. I want to explore caves (yarr! finding black pearls sounds good), swim with lots of fishes, see the Rice Terraces, and go to Batanes!!

6. write a novel
- Not just an ordinary novel, mind you. It has to be ground-breaking and part of the New York Times Bestseller List or something like that. Maybe when I have already acquired so much wealth from selling the book I'll be able to do the stuff above and the stuff below. :)

7. own a house beside a river
- Specifically, I want the river behind the house but before it, there has to be this pretty lil' garden with lots of daffodils and red roses. The house is white-washed with a front porch and a trellis where bougainvilleas or, better yet, grapes would grow.

8. own an island... minus the natives and rebels.
- Yes, that is a serious dream. :) I'd also prefer if the sand is white.

9. visit a medieval museum
- Who can resist the shiny armor of knights, the saving of damsels in distress, and the Arthurian tales? Well, if you can, you do not have a heart.

10. own a farm and place my house right smack in the middle of it
- I want a farm that's complete with rice and corn fields, horses, carabaos, workers, little huts, and a tree-lined avenue. Aren't tree-lined avenues just romantic?

11. learn how to speak Japanese

12. own a house overlooking the ocean
- I don't care whatever ocean that is as long as it's glinting and pretty in the sun. Ooh, this dream goes right with #10.

13. own a house on top of a mountain
- I may be suffering from acrophobia but nothing beats the view you get from on top of a mountain.

14. be a spelunker, CSI agent, archaeologist, or astronaut for a day
- Dream jobs? You got it!

15. own a restaurant
- It's going to be a square, red-bricked building with seats inside and outside. My restaurant will be the cafe-type but it's not necessarily a cafe. :P It's going to serve lots of pasta, iced tea, no wine, desserts, mashed potatoes, corn, and other stuff I want to put.

16. ride a double-decker bus
- Heck, it looks exciting!

17. go to Prince Edward Island in Canada
- Okay, so this is the island where L.M. Montgomery's stories take place. Yay!

18. pass through Baker Street
- Nyah. I know 221B Baker Street doesn't really exist but whatever...

19. visit the graves of Arthur Conan Doyle, Oscar Wilde, L.M. Montgomery, Jose Rizal, etc.

20. grow a rose garden
- Just because they're so pretty. A greenhouse would be a nice addition, too.

21. visit Disneyland
- We're all kids at heart, no?

22. found an orphanage
- It's going to be called CAMCO, or Cast All My Cares Orphanage. :D

23. buy a BMW or a black Ferrari
- Because... Because... Because!

24. study at Bible school
- It's not really that I want to be a pastor but that'll be cool too. I want to know more things about the greatest book in the world EVAR!

25. own a HUGE library
- For oh-so-obvious reasons...

26. perform in a stage
- Whether it be singing, dancing, acting, or playing in the piano, I want to. But not now. :P

27. work for K-Zone
- Another of my dream jobs!

28. be an archaeologist
- It's interesting and it's lonely work. 'Nuff said.

29. time travel!
- If I could, I would go to the medieval times in Europe. :)

30. own a jet
- Ha-ha!

31. get serenaded
- *wink wink*

32. get married in either a garden or beach setting
- Dream dream dream dream dream...

33. have twin children
- one boy, girl and name them Dennis and Denise... That was serious.

34. go to the Polynesian islands
- Because the islands are so nice and the people seem fun!

35. own an SLR camera

36. be a lawyer
- Dream job!

37. be a neurologist
- Yup. That's inspired by 1 Liter of Tears.

38. meet a real CSI agent
- They're cool and their job is so interesting!

39. go on a polar expedition
- Aah... There's nothing better than "chillin' out" with penguins, polar bears, and scientists.

40. make everyone around me... HAPPY~
- KEEP SMILIN'!!

This week was...

One of the best I've had in UPD! It is one of the most stressful weeks but - thank God! - it's fun and oddly relaxing.

Well, let's start with Monday: We had our first exam in Math 1. To tell the truth, I wasn't very confident with my answers. More or less, I might be likely to get a score of 36 - 54. I forgot to write that there were no Toki jeeps that day (at least I didn't see one...) so I had to walk all the way to the Math building. It was my first time, by the way. It was quite far and my legs were aching when I arrived. Anyway, after the exam, I walked again to the OUR to check the 2010 UPCAT results. Ha! There were a lot of people, mostly students, who were running their fingers down the lists to see if their names are printed. I wriggled my way in and took out a piece of paper where my sister's and her classmates's names were written. I went to the 'S' section first and looked for our surname. Voila! It was there! And guess what? She was eligible to enroll in UP Diliman and will take the course BS Tourism. Yes, I could jump up to the ceiling. I sighed, relieved, and all the tiredness went out of me when I read that name. Unfortunately, only my sister and Kim passed. But it's okay. At least somebody passed. :)

On Tuesday, I lost a Scrabble fight. My wins still outnumber the losses, though, with 5 to 2. Oh well. One can't win every game. At around 11:00am, my J100 group mates and I went to Philcoa to shoot our presentation (Libertarian Theory). We had lunch at McDo; we also planned to shoot there. However, when my group mates were shooting the second scene, the guard noticed and told them that they'd have to stop or else the manager might get angry. No choice. We left the restaurant and decided to shoot outside. However, some street children tried to grab our almost empty sundaes (we were using them as props). They were really scary, I tell you. When they finally left us, we went to Mini Stop and decided to shoot there. It was a good thing that the people there allowed us. :) After that, we went back to U.P. Haha! This is one of the fun parts of the day! We shot a scene where all of us had to lie on our backs along the University Avenue!

Wednesday saw one of the best experiences I've ever had as a MassCom student. Yeah, yeah, this isn't going to be the last, I know. ;) During the afternoon, we went to the studios of TV5 and watched a taping of Who wants to be a millionaire? It was fun for a lot of reasons. Mainly because they fed us three times? Haha! It was also my first cut... Which turned out to be unsuccessful because Ms. Mata wasn't around. Also, we went back to the dorm by 12:30am or later - my first. I was really scared, you know? What if the guard didn't let me in? LOL. But I did get in and slept soundly.

We were supposed to have our buddy date - Yna and I - today but the first workshop (a requirement to be able to enter BroadGuild) was going to occur that day, 4-7PM. We had to re-schedule. The workshop was all about flash animation and layouting. It was fun. I got to meet my buddy and gained 11 trivias about Kuya Rhai. I also got to meet three other FG's who didn't come with us on the media tour. I went back to the dorm at around 7:20 and took out my dinner. Tiring day...

It's finally Friday and I'm able to go back home. We still don't have Lingg 1 so I slept until 7am. :) Kas 2 is better since I'm more familiar with the discussions (the beginning of civilizations in Asia). Oh yeah. We're going to have our first exam January 30, Saturday, from 10am - 12nn. As the days pass, I feel more and more calm about the exam. Thank God... We didn't have English 11 (again) so I was able to go home at 1:30, I think. I arrived in Pampanga at 5 in the afternoon.

Haa... Rest until Monday. I'm able to go home on early Tuesday morning since we won't have Scrabble classes. :)

January 6, 2010

6:23PM - It's been a beautiful day with a mixture of fortunate and unfortunate events. It seems very little is left of Emily's pen, though.

Perhaps the culprit is the fear I felt during our class for Kasaysayan 2. Our professor had announced that our first exam will take place on January, probably on the 25th. I was immediately seized with fear. My heart was beating so fast. I swear I was shaking in my seat. It was a horrible feeling, really. I'm pretty sure you have felt it before. Ah, the best way to illustrate is in this way:

"The old man with the familiar voice and odd gestures - the monster in my dreams. He haunts me; his words are poison spreading on my mind, ridding it of sanity. I am like the shinigami of my memory, cowering beneath the awesome power of one stronger than he. In a moment, he loses his grip on the sword and -

BAM! Fear envelops his soul, squeezing out all the good juices. It torments him endlessly, day in and day out. It does not let him go and tells him of impending doom and the most horrible failure. Yes, I am like he. I know his feeling. I must fight it, but I have grown weary from fretting and crying. I cannot - no, no longer - raise my sword, not even the scabbard would do. Another. Yes, another must fight for me. He will uphold my cause and help me stand. How romantic - like the knight that saves the damsel from the scaly reptile. How soothing. How lovely..."

I wrote those two paragraphs last Monday. I was so depressed then.

We watched a film for Linguistics 1. The subject matter is interesting enough but the images flashed on the screen and the sound quality was horribly troubling. It was very boring and not worth mentioning.

Ms. Mata cancelled classes because she is sick. I wish it would continue until Friday. (I am so sly sometimes, no?) I want to go home already.

I had to clean (really clean!) my room this afternoon. It's General Inspection day and all must be in order. I even swept the top of the bookshelf and tried to use the bunot on the floor. (I don't know if the bunot worked. I didn't see any difference. The floor was still red and shiny.) The bunot had something written on it: "May bunot kami!!" I laughed in my mind. It was amusing to see a coconut husk with something like that written on it! It's as if owning a bunot was a luxury... Oh, some may consider it a luxury, I think. No one ever hardly uses them anyway. Perhaps we'll see them in a museum someday...

I finally have my readings for Kasaysayan 2. It wasn't very thick - only 91 pages long. It was easy reading too, which is good. I had it ring bound for 35 pesos because the stapler wouldn't do. I hope I remember to bring it home this Friday...

It seems we won't be having classes for Linguistics 1 on January 22. That's quite fortunate. I'll be taking my Kasaysayan 2 exam during the afternoon on that date so that I won't have to go back to the dorm on January 24. It would be nice to spend some hours reviewing for the exam.

As I was walking to the Faculty Center, the acacia trees were sending down showers (it's a more romantic word for rain) of green and yellow. It was so lovely! I felt like I was walking in an Autumn path. I wish it was always like that...

For a moment, I thought it was going to rain. The sky was so overcast. But far away, I saw the glint of a white-and-green church, its tall steeples were shining wildly and standing proud. It was lovely to perceive so ethereal a view with a grayish sky as your background. It looks like Hope sending its rays to me...

Perhaps it was!

I played Sims 1 awhile ago. I had fun creating the Rosenmeyer, Montgomery, and Cruz families. They were awesome and their life stories were tragic and odd (spotted rabbits and a business tycoon who owned a company that manufactured plastic raincoats!). I'm looking forward to playing again, perhaps tomorrow night... There was one problem, though. The battery of my mouse has lost its power and I'm left with the uncooperative keyboard mouse. Ugh. I have to remember to bring a spare next time!

I've begun to read The Portrait of a Lady by Henry James. It's fantastic, even with its lengthy descriptions that are quite unnecessary. I haven't finished the first chapter... Yet.

I MUST go now because I have to review for my exam tomorrow. I also have to tidy up my room more...
