Series Review - SMILE

Rating: 10/10

It's no wonder that this Japanese drama won Best Drama of Spring 2009 during the 13th Nikkan Sports Drama Grand Prix. It's great and very inspirational. I love it!! The actors were also very good; all three of them - Matsumoto Jun, Aragaki Yui, and Nakai Kiichi - won awards in the said event. I'm so happy for them. It's definitely something they could be proud of, really. It's clearly aimed at fighting prejudice and discrimination towards foreigners. I'm glad because, until now, people have not given up Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s dream.

The drama is also prevalent all through out the series and it just escalates as each episode passes. Shun Oguri's portrayal of Hayashi Seiji is positively creepy and it just makes me chilly all over whenever he comes into view. But, in the end, we never really know... It turns out he's also hurting inside... But I don't want to spoil for some people who haven't watched it yet..

I can really say that SMILE is better than 1 Liter of Tears. It's something I can really watch over and over again without getting tired of. I'm definitely not deleting the 11 episodes (6.66GB) from my laptop. :)

Watch it, onegai!

Book review - Kapitan Sino by Bob Ong

Rating: 10/10

This book is just amazing! It's better than MacArthur, in my opinion. For me, it's the best out of all of his books. The story is beautiful and captivating. It holds your attention from the beginning until the end. The drama is absolute and affects the reader deeply. I believe that every Filipino should read Bob Ong's books. They are simply great and serve as a wake-up call to us, Filipinos. This is in my recommended list.

Book review: The Red Tent by Anita Diamant

Rating: 7/10

I liked this book. It's simple in everything - the way it is written, most especially. The characters are nicely done although I disdain some parts of the novel because they were not true to the Bible. Even so, I might be looking at this book for reference someday.

Movie Review - Seven Pounds

Rating: 10/10

I was bored this afternoon so I decided to watch a movie. I saw Seven Pounds and decided to give it a try...

The story is all about Tim Thomas, an aeronautical engineer. One night, he and his fiancee were driving on a highway. They had a car crash and seven people died, including his fiancee. From then on, Tim dedicates his life in saving the lives of seven good people.

This is another great movie starring Will Smith. The story is well-presented and the unfolding of the events is interesting. So, yeah. It's a great movie.
